Preparing for CBI refers to IOM’s ability to anticipate and respond effectively to the impact of likely, imminent or current hazards, events or conditions. Being cash ready at IOM means including CBI as part of all preparation and preparedness activities and developing the capacity to deliver timely, quality and at scale CBI. An appropriate level of preparedness can also increase the value for money of relief action and ensure that scarce resources are directed to where they will have the greatest impact. There are a number of activities that can be done to prepare for CBI, for example:
- Assessing the feasibility of CBI.
- Developing CBI capacities.
- Mapping key CBI stakeholders and/or service providers.
- Creating ready-to-go solutions (e.g. long-term agreements with service providers, context-specific templates).
